THE BEST TIME TO GET FIT - WHY YOU SHOULDN'T WAIT FOR JANUARY
At the point of me writing this, the year is half over. Which means it’s dead of summer and it’s hot outside. And, for some reason, it seems at this point each year, gals start to think about the fact that well, the first of the year is just around the corner, so I’ll just wait till January to reach my goals.
STOP WAITING UNTIL JANUARY.
Plus, allow me to say, with all of the love in my heart, that January is not just around the corner. January is literally half a year away.
It’s interesting though, the second half of the year always seems to go by so much faster than the first half of the year.
WHY IS THAT? I REALLY AM NOT SURE.
The first of the year is my favorite. It means the New Year, which is always great because I love new beginnings. But there’s also spring and Easter, and then early summer where it’s warm enough to swim, but it’s not so sweltering hot that you sweat simply from walking the length of your driveway to the mailbox.
Maybe the second half of the year goes faster because there are more holidays? Honestly, I’m not sure.
OKAY, THAT WAS A TANGENT.
Back to the topic at hand of stop waiting until January to start reaching fitness goals.
In fact, July is just as good of a time to start because it’s just like starting a new year anyway because of school starting.
Did you know that you can grab planners that run the length of the school year and not the calendar year? Bizarre, right?
Let’s dive into some reasons of why you don’t want to wait until January to start working towards your goals.
STOP WAITING UNTIL JANUARY REASON #1
For the sake of continuing a good thought, let’s talk about why July is just as good as January to get started (or pick back up) reaching for your fitness goals.
IT’S BECAUSE SCHOOL IS ABOUT TO START.
Let’s pause a second. I just wrote that out and it was a bit like a punch in the gut because I’m homeschooling my son this year and I’m nervous. Yikes.
Anyway!
School is about to start, and no matter if you’re going to homeschool your child(ren) this year or if you’re going to send them back to school, what you are about to do is set a schedule in place that will keep the days rolling.
This schedule is perfect because it will look the same every single week. This means that you have the ability to schedule in your workouts at a time that works for you.
MY BIGGEST TIP FOR SCHEDULING YOUR WORKOUTS IS TO MAKE YOUR SCHEDULE WORK FOR YOU AND NOT TRY TO FIGHT IT.
See? This is perfect. July is your time to shine.
STOP WAITING UNTIL JANUARY REASON #2 – THE TIME IS GOING TO PASS ANYWAY…
Let’s move on to my next and probably best reason to not wait until January….
The time is going to pass anyway, right?
At the time of me writing this, it’s towards the end of June, and we’re closing in on July. July is looming right there.
That means between now and January there is July, August, September, October… see where I’m going with this?
THERE IS ALMOST HALF OF A YEAR IN BETWEEN NOW AND DECEMBER AND THE TIME IS GOING TO PASS ANYWAY WHETHER YOU WORK TOWARDS YOUR GOALS OR NOT.
Can you imagine what would happen if you decided, you know what? I’m going to schedule in 3 or 4, 30 minute workouts a week and I’m going to do no less than 3 workouts per week every week between now and January.
Imagine with me how accomplished you’ll feel by January?
Think about the goals you have of being stronger and feeling better about yourself in that work dress you want to wear again, or be more comfortable in your workout leggings or WHATEVER your goal is.
You will be 5+ months into this towards that goal. This means that you will be well on your way to making it a lifestyle and not just about workouts. Amazing, right?
YEAH! Absolutely amazing.
EACH WEEK, YOU NEED SOME ‘ME TIME’.
Now, as mothers, we tend to think that me time is selfish. When in actuality, it is vital to our physical and mental health.
The 30 minute workouts in the Iron Maiden - Home (or Gym) can be your me time. When I don’t get my workouts in, my physical well-being obviously takes a hit, but my mental well being does as well.
If you’re reading this still, chances are that you are a gal that really wants to reach her goals and you have a fighting spirit.
Chances are that you’re one of those gals that when you reach a goal, the satisfaction of reaching said goal is extremely satisfying and you feel really good about yourself.
BOTTOM LINE? REACHING YOUR FITNESS GOALS AS A BUSY WIFE AND MOTHER IS ABSOLUTELY DOABLE.
Is it hard work? You can bet your little hiny that it’s hard work. But you know what? You’re strong and you’re not afraid of a challenge.
You don’t back down and you look that challenge straight in the face and you own it.
Believe me when I say you can do this. Stick with me, mama and I will take the guess work out of fitness and healthy living for you.
